Some Like it Hot!

Whew!!! It’s August in Kansas and Mother Nature is turning up the heat! Up a Creek has really been fortunate this year with our scheduled floats. We have seen a lot of beautiful skies and mild temperatures, excluding of course the lightning, sandstorm, thunderstorm that we lived through during the “Night on the Kaw”. But a float down the Kaw in the middle of the August heat is just asking for some sort of abuse.

So come along on August the 18th for lots of sunshine, lots of heat and plenty of cool waters that only the Kaw can supply. The float will start at 1:00 p.m. at the Rising Sun boat ramp at the Perry/Lecompton Bridge. This will only be a 6-mile float so we will be caravanning to Jay’s and float back down to the Rising Sun. You will need plenty of water and any other beverages that you plan on consuming. Even though this will be a shorter run bring along some munchies always, a hat, some sunscreen and although you might snicker…Uncle Ron and the Puppy have found umbrellas are an excellent way to keep the sun off your precious skin.

We have 8 folks signed up for this float and enough room for 6 more heat seeking, abuse lov’in, Kaw soak’in canoeist. So if you are planning on coming along please let us know asap.
