The River Nay Nay

The River Nay Nay

Two days of near 100-degree temps, two hot floats. We'll work backwards here: Sunday is for some, a day of workship and rest.  At Up a Creek, however, Sunday is the day of the Nay Nay.

Renay and Lorrie, arguably our VIP paddlers for this season, brought friends Britanie and Erin to join Craig and Shannon for a Sunday afternoon float along our favorite stretch of river. After sloshing through knee-deep mud to the river's edge, the girls grabbed their boats and headed down river. I believe we made it maybe a quarter mile before our first of many sandbar stops.

I won't try to summarize Sunday's float any more than I've already done. Instead, let's just let the photos tell the story.

Uncle Ron handled Saturday's float with several families along as they floated our favorite stretch of the Kaw for the appropriately named "Cuz' Uncle Ron Said So" float -- from Jay's to the boat ramp at Rising Sun. Great water levels and plenty of sandbars made for a hot but satisfying Saturday. Lots of time in the water to avoid the high temperatures. Click the photo below for shots from Saturday's float.
