A weekend of water

After a rainyMemorial Day and a canceled float, Up a Creek made good on it's promise of a sunny Memorial Day float... we just moved Memorial Day! Saturday's sunny skies started early with a 7:30am float down the Delaware with Matt Vogelsberg and a handful of friends. (Click on any of the photos below for more shots from that day's adventure!)

Matt and crew arrived at the Rising Sun boat ramp in Perry just in time for us to collect the kayaks and turn them around for an afternoon float on the Kaw. This was a beautiful afternoon with 90-degree temps and water warm enough for swimming. Truly a lazy, carefree day on the Kaw.

Um, did I mention "lazy"? Nothing captures that ideal better than a paddler tying off her kayak to the back of a canoe and dozing while being towed down the river. Great exercise there, K!

And on Sunday our good friend and fellow paddler, Bear took his sister and a group of friends along for a longer stretch of the Kaw from Perry to Lawrence. This was just a pre-cursor to next weekend's float -- "Bear-style", in honor of Bear's recent birthday.

Three floats in 36 hours... we're just gettin' warmed up, baby. See you all on the water!
